ARTIST BIO

Artist Profile: Marina was born in Germany and lived the first 6 years of her life with her grandparents. Since early age colour was always an intrinsic part of her life. Her grandfather, an architect and artist, gave her a box of Farber Castell pencils. She still has them. She always wanted to be an artist. She finished school and started studying at Lerchenfeld, University of Fine Art in Hamburg Germany, but life sometimes goes different ways. She had to earn money, and soon became a visual merchandiser. Later on, Marina commenced in her career as an interior and fashion stylist/designer on photo sets for leading European magazines and catalogues. She pioneered the natural yet dynamic look of commercial German still life fashion photography, often blending styled garments with materials such as leaves, moss, sand and rocks. Her keen eye for detail and sense of colour, harmony and proportion was reflected in many publications for multiple years. In 2002 she moved with her Australian husband and son to Perth , Western Australia. Finally she had more time for art and became a member at the Atwell Art Centre in Perth and started visiting art classes. In 2008 the whole family moved to Melbourne. Continuing studying art with a number of recognize art teachers at the Heidelberg- and Mount Waverley Art Society, she developed an unique contemporary style. Strong colours and a mix of brush strokes and palette knife work gives her subject matter a vibrancy and new meaning. She loves nature, which is reflected in her floral compositions and landscapes and beach scenes, with vibrant colours and a focus on tonal qualities. Her work are aesthetically appealing and reveals her strong passion for colour and the environment. She exhibited at the Finding Hope Exhibition from Bic Walker and at the MtSV Emerging Artists Project , Land Sea Spirit and several Rotary Art Shows and Cam Art.
